Mt. SAC Softball's Ruby Rojas Reaches 400-Win Plateau
For the second time this year, a South Coast Conference softball head coach hit a significant victory milestone as Mt. San Antonio College's Ruby Rojas achieved her 400th career win in a 10-2 decision over Pasadena City on Thursday.
Rojas holds an impressive overall record of 400-90, a .816 winning percentage, as her program produced back-to-back state championships in 2018 and 2019 and eight SCC titles. She has accomplished the feat in just 12 seasons in charge of the Mounties.
Earlier this season, fellow conference coach Jessica Rapoza of El Camino picked up her milestone 400th victory as the South Coast features a number of long-time successful head coaches in the sport including Cerritos College legend Kodee Murray (644 victories), East Los Angeles' Erika Blanco (295 wins) and Long Beach City's Megan Martinez (263 wins).
Rojas earned the prestigious SCC All-Sports Women's Coach of the Year in three consecutive seasons from 2017-2019. Eight of her squads posted 40-or-more win seasons. Twenty of her student-athletes achieved National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American honors.
