Sweet 16 SCC Supremacy Titles In A Row For Mt. San Antonio

Sweet 16 SCC Supremacy Titles In A Row For Mt. San Antonio

Mt. San Antonio College won its 16th straight South Coast Conference Supremacy Award, but was challenged by Long Beach City as two colleges scored more than 200 points in the same sports year for the first time since 2021-22.

Mt. SAC captured 11 SCC titles on its way to 237 points while LBCC took home eight conference crowns and scored 202 in the 2025-26 sports year. In '21-22, the Vikings sports teams totaled 206.3 less 19 points behind the Mounties.

The supremacy award was announced at the year-end athletic directors meeting held Wednesday at Pasadena City College.

Mt. SAC won its SCC crowns in men's and women's soccer, men's and women's cross country, women's volleyball, men's and women's basketball, baseball, men's and women's track and field, and men's swimming. The Mounties also earned 3C2A state championships in women's cross country and men's swimming, the first time in Mt. SAC's history in that sport.

Long Beach accomplished the next most conference titles with eight in men's and women's soccer, men's and women's water polo, women's volleyball, women's basketball, women's swimming and beach volleyball. The Vikings captured the state women's water polo championship and for the first time in their history a women's swim title.

The other South Coast first-place finishes were earned by Cerritos in men's basketball and softball, East Los Angeles in men's basketball, LA Southwest in men's basketball, and El Camino in baseball.

Cerritos took third with 165, followed by El Camino with 127 in fourth and East Los Angeles in fifth with 77.

The points are only accumulated through conference finishes/places with bonus points awarded to SCC champions with higher bonus points going to the sports with the most number of teams competing within that specific conference.

LA Harbor made the biggest point jump from last year's standings at 62 points, 16 higher than 2025-26 and one place above in seventh overall.

Cerritos remains the last school other than Mt. SAC to win the supremacy award when it tied the Walnut campus for the 2012-2013 title, 199-199. Cerritos also is the last school other than Mt. SAC to win the title outright in 2008-2009.

MILESTONE 250TH STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR SCC

With the two state crowns collected early this month by Long Beach in women's swimming and Mt. San Antonio in men's swimming, the South Coast Conference hit the No. 250 milestone in all-time state team championships.

In all thus far in the '25-26 school year, the SCC has won five 3C2A state titles including Cerritos in men's soccer, Long Beach in women's water polo and Mt. SAC in women's cross country.

The very first SCC title was won by former conference member Fullerton in 1969 when it won the men's water polo title. The first women's title was also a former SCC member Santa Ana in women's volleyball in 1977.

The first by current members were performed by Cerritos in winning the 1970 baseball title and the Falcons also capturing the 1978 softball crown.

The conference has won more women's sports championships, now at 128 and 122 in men's sports.

With Long Beach still playing at this week's 3C2A Softball Championships and Mt. SAC a candidate for both genders at the Track and Field Championships also this week, the conference has a chance to add to the list.
