Mt. SAC Collects 32nd SCC Men's Track and Field Championship
COMPLETE SCC CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS
Mt. San Antonio College continued its dynasty in winning the program's 32nd South Coast Conference men's track and field championship at the SCC Finals held at Long Beach City College on Saturday.
The Mounties won 12 individual events and scored 392 points to outdistance second-place Cerritos with 224. It was the school's fourth straight conference team title.
While 10 different athletes scored gold medals, the only double event champion was Toni Babatunde, who won the shot put (46 feet, 3.5 inches) and discus (144-8). The team's most points in any event was the pole vault as Mt. SAC tallied 36 out of a possible 39 points led by event champion Quintin Dukes (15-5).
Dukes and Jordan Berkley (1,500 meters, 4:08.79) each are 2-time conference champions in their events.
Mt. San Antonio also took the top three places in five different events, one of those the top five and two others that were the top four.
Dukes, javelin champ Taiyo Ishiguro (192-6), and triple jump winner Brandon Wetherspoon (45-4.25) all are second in the state in their respective events with better marks at earlier meets.
